Just because...
...I am not really taking many pictures anymore. Not that my photos are great but they do tell the story of us in their own way and it is something that I want to get back into the habit of doing again, otherwise we will end up with no photos of the next six months. (Oh, and sorry Grandad and Grandma about the missing flowers in the garden).
Here are a couple of photos of the house that were taken about three (or maybe four) weeks ago. See that pile of stuff in the corner. That is our kitchen cupboards.
So this is what sleep looks like
Chloe has decided that she would much rather play then have her day sleep. Yesterday 45 minutes after I put her down for a sleep I went outside to do something and this is what I saw. I told her to go to bed which she didn't like and after crying and then playing for another 45 minutes she finally went to sleep in the cot of all places. The side was down and she somehow managed to get her pillow, blanket, doll and herself in there. Today wasn't alot better. She didn't go to sleep until she had been in her room for 1 1/2 hrs and the floor is now covered with books, toys and clothes (her new favourite game, emptying the bottom shelf of her cupboard).Oh well at least she still has a day sleep.
Bump Update
We are 34 weeks today but not really counting.
This photo was taken last week or the week before, I don't really remember (please excuse the tackies :).
Chloe loves the 'baby'. She loves to kiss it, cuddle it, say hello to it and even tries to see it (well at least my tummy) all the time including when we are in pubic. When she comes into our bed for morning cuddles and notices the bump she makes me pull my shirt up and snuggles with it, her little fingers gently stroking it and giving it soft kisses.
I can only imagine what she will be like when they finally get to meet. I can see that there are going to be big jealousy issues though not because she has to share Eden and myself, but that she has to share the 'baby'.
Meeting Kobe
Today we went in to visit the Kings and meet the newest addition to their family, Kobe. Chloe was quite taken with him and kept wanting to stroke his face as gently as a 1 1/2 year old can. When Lisa put him in his rocker to have a little sleep Chloe decided that she wanted to cover him with ever blanket she could find, she even tried to use Harri's special one without much luck. When she finished covering him she would again stroke his face and head, get distracted momentarily and then return to fixing blankets and stroking faces. Aren't I going to be a lucky Mummy to have such an enthusiastic big sister to help when our little one comes along :) Aaron suggested maybe getting her one of those bracelets that the prisoners have to wear on day release. Lucky they don't make them in child sizes otherwise in one of those sleep deprived bordering on PND moments I might be tempted :) So we now have two months to work on getting Chloe to enjoy looking at babies more then touching them...or invest in a porter cot or something similar that will allow the baby some Chloe free time :)
Sausages, skirts and ducks.
On Monday Chloe and I went to our first primary activity, the ward primary picnic. We were a little bit (or alot) late and we missed all the activities but we did arrive in time for Chloe to have her first sausage sandwich. Chloe wasn't overly impressed with it though, I'm not sure if it was because it was a bit hot or because it was keeping her from the ducks.
Sarra is Chloe's big buddy and whenever she is around Chloe does not seem to need me any more, though I wonder if she ever really does. I remember how excited Sarra was when she found out that she and Chloe were related (their dad's are cousins, I think that makes them second cousins, we just call anyone related cousins though in the long run I am not sure if it is going to make it harder or easier).
Chloe is starting to take more of an interest in what she wears. On the morning of the picnic when we were getting her bib she found her sunhat and decided that she wanted to wear that to breakfast. Then when I was getting her dressed for the day she grabbed her dress out of the laundry basket and asked to wear it. After hiding it I thought that would be the end of it but she then spied her dress up skirt in the toy box and asked to wear it. She also asked to wear the beanie. Normally I would not mind but it is one from when she was a baby and does not fit very well anymore. I put my foot down when she asked to wear some shiny black Mary Janes. I didn't realise that this obsession with clothes started so early though I think it might having been brought on prematurely after our visit with Adalia who is ten months older and completely obsessed with anything of a 'princess' nature.
These are the very friendly and very fat ducks that captured Chloe's attention for most of our time at the picnic. I didn't get any photos of Chloe with them as I had a feeling that a slight laps in concentration might result in Chloe going for a swim :)
All in all Chloe enjoyed herself at the picnic so thank you to our wonderful Primary Presidency.
A quick note about the last post for all those who were wondering how a school teacher managed to add up that there were sixty two days in winter instead of ninety two (and they say that it is Tassie that has the lowest literacy and numeracy rates, imagine what it would be like if they let me into a classroom ;).
One down sixty one to go...
...that is days of winter.
Well we have done it, we have survived our first day of our first (for Chloe and I anyway) Tassie winter. The weather has actually been quite pleasant (all things considered) but I know that we have only really had a few cold days so far so I am preparing myself. Everyone says that I will be fine as I have my own internal heater...I wish. But as the baby is being born in July (or August if it is like it's sister) at least I will have a reason to snuggle in bed all day still in my cozy PJ's until at least 2pm...wheter I like it or not (I wonder if Chloe will cooperate with that idea).
At the moment Sundays are the only day that we get to spend any real time together as a family so today after Chloe's nap we decided to go for a walk up the drive to say hello to the cows and sheep and see where we ended up (don't laugh...it is a big adventure for a 1 year old no matter how many times we do it).
Today we were lucky to make it past the cows. First Chloe wanted to feed them her freshly picked raspberries (yes, Nick is still getting them...lucky us). Then she wanted them to come to her hand and she has this belief that if we all put our hands through the fence then the cows will come, so there we were all three with our hands through the wire and it surprisingly worked. All five cows came over which thrilled Chloe no end. At one stage she even tried to climb the fence but decided against it when she got to the barbed wire.
After that she though they might like to eat some rocks. I'm not sure what her obsession is with feeding all the animals rock, maybe is stems back to her own rock eating days. Eden says that if the meat is tough to blame Chloe.
After finally dragging her away from the cows we had a little visit with the Triffitts across the road (you never end up going very far when you go for a walk with a 1 year old) and then headed home for a roast dinner...a perfect way to end a winters day.
